Reserve Funds 101: A Quick Guide To Investing

A community association’s reserve funds are arguably its most valuable asset; in addition to enabling crucial capital projects to be carried out properly and in a timely manner, reserve funding also impacts the borrowing ability of the association, and of individual buyers and residents. Investing reserves prudently is key to ensuring that funds are there when you need them most – so it’s vital that community managers and board members understand how to effectively manage these funds. This webinar will discuss that, will familiarize attendees with the different types of coverages, and how to protect their reserve funds. It will also outline financial best practices, useful resources, and investment strategies, and will give a comprehensive overview of the most common investment tools associations should know to be ready for their next big project.

Learning objectives:
  1. Example state statutes related to community association reserve funds
  2. FDIC insurance limits and how to make sure funds are protected
  3. An overview of different types of investment options and strategies
  4. Best practices when selecting a banking partner and what to look for
